Highland Park resident Marc Schwartz has chaired the board and served in various leadership capacities at Loyola Medicine since 2011. Along with his wife, Kim, their children and grandchildren, and wide circle of friends and family, Marc has created a legacy of opportunities for others to engage, give, and reinforce the impact of Loyola’s mission. Marc’s generosity and service on behalf of Loyola takes many forms, including his volunteer leadership, advocacy and patient referrals, and raising hundreds of thousands of dollars through personal giving and rallying his generous network of family and friends.

What makes Marc’s giving even more meaningful is the heart behind it. Every contribution has been made in memory of his brother, Charles M. Schwartz, MD, a beloved and outstanding orthopaedic surgeon at Loyola Medicine until his passing in 1994. Dr. Schwartz’s legacy of healing and compassion live on through Marc and his community’s dedication. For the last three decades, Marc has transformed personal loss into a powerful force for good. Hosting the annual Charles M. Schwartz, MD Golf Outing each September, Marc raises funds for Loyola’s department of orthopaedic surgery and the Charles M. Schwartz, MD, Center for Musculoskeletal Care, which provides comprehensive, centralized care by orthopaedic surgeons, sports medicine specialists, and podiatrists. Marc has also supported the purchase of iPads for 60 residents the last 15 years which allow Loyola’s residents to access a full array of orthopaedic educational articles, videos and professional development resources, helping residents prep for surgeries and procedures and study for board exams on the go. This collective generosity ensures that Dr. Schwartz’s spirit of service benefits generations to come.

We are profoundly grateful to Marc, Kim, their family, friends, and community for their decades of friendship and support. By championing our mission to treat mind, body and spirit, Marc has created a ripple effect of kindness and compassion that strengthens our ability to provide outstanding, compassionate care to all patients in need, every day, today, tomorrow, and beyond.
