Internal Medicine Conferences
General Medicine Morning Report
Gen Med morning report is a conference specifically designed for residents and students on their General Medicine rotation. In addition to the typical case presentation format, each session also features a brief clinical question discussion led by the Internal Medicine Chief Resident. Special Gen Med Morning Report sessions include point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), Social Determinants of Health and Pastries & Pearls.
Noon Conference
This departmental conference, led by the Chief Residents, includes evidence-based topic discussions, case presentations, journal reviews, and even board preparation materials.
Grand Rounds
These conferences occur weekly.
Summer Lecture Series
In June, July, and August, these Department of Medicine conferences are geared toward the interns to help them assess and manage acute patient problems. Examples include: seizure management, fluid and electrolyte disorders, ECG interpretation, chest pain management, and respiratory distress.
Subspecialty Lectures
These lecture series occur regularly on subspecialty rotations.
Clinical Pathophysiology Conference (CPC)
A weekly, senior resident-presented case involving an unusual disease or clinical presentation with attending discussion and debate. One of the most distinguished conferences in the Department of Medicine.
Friday School
The Internal Medicine ambulatory ("+1") culminates in an educational half-day composed of specialty education sessions, research collaboration, Boards preparation, Chief check-in, and – of course – free lunch.
Pediatric Conferences
Noon Conference
Pediatric noon conferences cover a vast array of core content and vary in format from attending-led topic discussions to Board Review sessions.
Grand Rounds
These conferences occur weekly and include senior resident research presentations.
Tuesday Half-Day Didactics
During ambulatory time, residents participate in standardized curriculum including ACGME mandated topics, lectures, simulation, and workshops.
Morbidity & Mortality
Monthly M&M presentations allow challenging situations highlighting system-level opportunities for improvement to be discussed in a safe environment.
Quality Improvement
All residents present a longitudinal group QI project over the course of their training.
