WHAT IS VIRTUAL CARE/TELEHEALTH?
Virtual Care/Telehealth services at Loyola Medicine are a safe and secure way to get the health care you need without being physically in your doctor’s office. You can access care from anywhere over the telephone or on a video chat with your provider in order to address health concerns you would normally have in a clinic visit.
HOW DOES A TELEHEALTH APPOINTMENT WORK?
Loyola Medicine is offering telephone and video visit options for virtual care/telehealth appointments. The choice between a video visit and telephone visit depends on your preference, whether you are a new or established patient for the doctor you are seeing, and your medical needs.
For a video visit, you will need a computer, tablet or smartphone that has both a camera and a microphone. You will need internet access or data service on your smartphone with a strong enough signal to conduct a video chat. Depending on the application used by your physician, you may need to download an app (such as Doxy.me) to your device prior to the visit. We recommend you sign up for myLoyola for a streamlined and successful virtual visit.
DOES INSURANCE COVER A TELEHEALTH VISIT?
Many insurance companies have unique coverage for telehealth visits during the COVID-19 outbreak in the U.S. Check with your insurance provider or speak with our financial counselors at 800-424-4840 to confirm how your plan is covering these types of visits.
