After receiving life-saving care from Loyola’s liver transplant program with the gift of a new liver, Corrine Rossi was inspired to turn her experience into a source of hope and support for others. Inspired by the exceptional treatment she received, she began planning the Annual Liver Transplant Awareness Golf Classic (LTAGC) to give back in honor of the care team that helped restore her health and quality of life. Hosted by Corrine and her cousin, Bob Famighetti, who received the same diagnosis and transplant at Loyola, this event raises funds in support of patient care, education and training, and equipment and technology for Loyola’s liver transplant program. What started as an expression of gratitude has grown into a meaningful tradition that rallies the liver transplant community together at Bloomingdale Golf Club in support of advanced liver care.

“The first year we held this event, there were only eight foursomes and each year it has grown substantially. This year, we had 21,” said Corrine. “I am grateful to the people I have met at the Loyola Outpatient Center who decided to join this event and to those who have only learned of the amazing work that Loyola is doing through the opportunity to golf. It is rewarding to educate others, whether they are directly tied to Loyola or not, about liver transplant and the importance of organ donation.”

Corrine and Bob’s golf outing has become more than just a fundraising event; it is a celebration of survivorship. Transplant recipients, friends, family members, and care teams come together on the course to honor the strength of liver transplant survivors and the dedication of the providers who make these second chances possible. The event has created a space for connection, remembrance, and joy, shining a light on the resilience of our transplant survivors and the extraordinary work of our hepatology specialists.

Their commitment to the LTAGC outing each year is a powerful reminder of how gratitude can create lasting impact at Loyola Medicine. We are deeply thankful for her partnership, generosity, and determination to give back in honor of the care that saved her life.
