About
Dr. Jigisha Paresh Thakkar is a neurologist and neuro-oncologist at Loyola Medicine who helps patients facing some of the most complex neurological conditions, including brain and spinal cord tumors. She leads Loyola’s Neuro-Oncology Program at the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center in Maywood, where she combines advanced treatments with compassionate support for patients and families.
Dr. Thakkar evaluates and treats patients with glioblastoma, meningiomas, pituitary tumors, metastatic brain tumors, and neurologic complications from cancer treatment. She is also experienced in caring for patients with epilepsy, headache, and other neurological disorders. Her training includes a neurology residency at the University of Kentucky and a neuro-oncology fellowship at Northwestern University.
Patients describe Dr. Thakkar as both highly knowledgeable and deeply caring. She explains diagnoses in easy-to-understand terms and guides families through treatment choices, whether that means surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or supportive care. Her approach is collaborative—she works closely with neurosurgeons and radiation-oncologists to design personalized treatment plans.
If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with a brain tumor or is experiencing neurological symptoms, Dr. Thakkar offers advanced care, clinical trial opportunities, and the reassurance of being in trusted hands.
