MAYWOOD, IL – Shannon Cermak, MHA, who previously served as the vice president of ambulatory sites, has been named Chief Operations Officer, Medical Group, and Vice President of Ambulatory for Loyola Medical Group, effective immediately.

In this expanded role, Cermak will oversee the operations and strategic growth of both the Loyola Medical Group (LMG) and ambulatory services. She will work closely with Chief Clinical Officer Chris M. Gonzalez, MD, MBA, FACS, LMG's Chief Medical Officer Alexander J. Ghanayem, MD, FAAOS, FAOA, and other senior leaders to drive clinical growth, improve access and enhance the patient and provider experience across the system.

Since joining Loyola Medicine as vice president of ambulatory sites, Cermak has brought operational excellence and strategic leadership. She previously served as the vice president of practice operations at Rush University Medical Center, where she led ambulatory operations for 65 specialties and subspecialties and was instrumental in advancing patient access and value-based care initiatives. Cermak holds a master’s degree in health administration from Washington State University.

In her new role, Cermak will be responsible for managing all aspects of LMG and ambulatory services to meet clinical, quality, financial and operational goals. She will lead strategic planning in collaboration with department chairs and medical directors, enhance physician engagement and referral coordination, and drive innovation in access, service delivery and care integration.

Additionally, she will partner with Dr. Gonzalez on provider recruitment, retention and performance management, while ensuring regulatory compliance and data-driven decision-making across LMG and ambulatory services.
