Meet our Current Residents

About the Residents

Loyola University Medical Center is located in Maywood, IL, about 10 miles outside of Chicago. Approximately two-thirds of our residents chose to live in the city, which is a very manageable 15-25 minute drive depending on location. Some of our favorite neighborhoods are West Loop, Wicker Park, Old Town and South Loop. The remaining one-third of residents live in the suburbs near Loyola including Oak Park, Westchester and Forest Park. Either option are very manageable for the hospitals that we rotate at.

Chicago is a great place to live and a great place to be a resident. The rumors are true, there is nothing better than summer in Chicago. On a typical summer weekend, you can find our residents enjoying the lakefront path, beaches, Cubs/Sox games or one of the many breweries or outdoor patios around the city. Living in Chicago offers great access to the educational resources throughout the city including the AAOS headquarters (with great hands-on courses at the OLC) and several specialty societies. We also participate in cross-city journal clubs with the other orthopaedic programs in the city.

Our residents love Chicago, but come from all over the country. Here is a look at where our current residents are from:

  • Illinois
  • Tennessee
  • Minnesota
  • Kansas
  • Colorado
  • Texas
  • Washington
  • California
  • Wisconsin
  • Missouri
  • Arizona
  • Florida
  • Connecticut
