Geriatric Medicine Fellowship

Welcome!

The Loyola University-Hines VA Geriatric Medicine Fellowship is an ACGME-accredited one-year clinical program.  Since its inception in 1988, the program has offered a diverse curriculum and a robust didactic schedule.  Situated just outside of the Chicago border, the fellowship has the best of both worlds. Our fellows can benefit from all that a major city has to offer; whether they live downtown or closer to the medical center, they have an easy commute and plenty of free parking (at the VA)!  Graduates find themselves well-prepared for positions in academic medicine, private practice, hospitalist medicine, and other fellowships.  Regardless of what you choose to do after graduation from our fellowship, you will find yourself better prepared and a more competitive candidate!

Click on the tabs below to learn more, and congratulations for even considering furthering your education in geriatric medicine.  You will be amazed at how much you will learn in only one year with us!

Currently, we have 7 approved one-year positions.  After the NRMP® Geriatrics match is over (usually in early December), we also accept individual applications for any remaining open spots.  The following will need to be received and reviewed before interview offers can be made:

  • Current CV

  • Three letters of reference (one letter should be from your residency Program Director)
  • Loyola University Medical Center Application
  • Hines VA Medical Center Application

Applications are available from the program coordinator or at https://www.hines.va.gov/education/geriatrics
