Multigenerational Family Receives Care at Loyola Medicine and Gives Back
November 24, 2025
At Loyola Medicine, we are honored to care for multigenerational families who entrust us with their health and well-being across multiple areas of specialty care. The Sharp and Kor family has chosen Loyola for a wide range of clinical areas including cardiology, gastroenterology, internal medicine, ophthalmology, and oncology, with some family members traveling from out of state to access our specialized approach to treatment. The Sharp/Kor story is one of trust, continuity, and the comfort of knowing loved ones are receiving care grounded in excellence and compassion.
Laurie Kor shares, “My parents have received outstanding care at Loyola, which inspired my husband and me, and members of my husband’s family to choose Loyola for our care.” Laurie continues,
A lot of times, a first patient visit feels like somewhat of a waste because the physicians don’t yet have all of the details and tests in hand. But Dr. [Gregory] Macaluso had read everything ahead of time. He knew all about my husband’s treatment protocols unrelated to his heart, and the different ways these variables could affect his heart muscle and cardio myopathy. When one is in heart failure, the relationship with your care team is critical and we had that immediate synergistic relationship with Dr. Macaluso. We know when our heads lie down at night, Loyola and our care providers have our back. You can’t put a price tag on that.
Grateful for Loyola’s excellence, the Sharp and Kor family has chosen to give back to Loyola in a profound way. Over the years, they have contributed more than $200,000 in support of a range of priorities including heart health, ophthalmology, and internal medicine, as an expression of gratitude for the treatment, guidance, and healing they have experienced. Laurie recently accepted the opportunity to support our leadership and to sit on the reestablished Loyola Medicine Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC), a peer group dedicated to improving the patient experience. Their generosity is not only a testament to the confidence they place in our providers but also an investment in ensuring Loyola has the resources to continue improving care for others. Their support strengthens our mission and amplifies the impact we can make for every patient who walks through our doors.
There are many choices when it comes to selecting the right healthcare provider, and it is an honor to be entrusted with the care of the Sharp and Kor family, and all families we have the privilege of serving.
