About
William Small Jr., MD, FACRO, FACR, FASTRO, is Professor and Chairman of the Department of Radiation Oncology, Stritch School of Medicine, Loyola University Chicago, and Director of the Cardinal Bernardin Cancer Center. He attended Northwestern University Medical School, where he also completed his Residency. He has been an active researcher, teacher and clinician for over 25 years and has an international reputation in gynecological, gastrointestinal and breast cancers. He is a fellow of the American College of Radiation Oncology (ACRO), the American College of Radiology (ACR) and the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO). He is the former President of The Council of Regional Radiation Oncology Societies (CARROS) and is a past-chair and current Executive Committee member of The Gynecological Cancer Intergroup (GCIG). He is the former Co-Chair of the NRG Oncology Gynecological working committee and a former member of the NCI Gynecological Steering Committee. He currently serves as the Chair of the ACR Commission on Radiation Oncology, Chair of the ASTRO Education Committee, and Chair of the American Radium Society Appropriate Use Criteria Steering Committee. He is also the ASTRO representative to the American Joint Committee on Cancer and serves on the ACR Board of Chancellors. Dr. Small is the author of over 275 publications, 37 invited book chapters, and 7 books.
