About
Dr. Dejan Micic is a board-certified gastroenterologist in Chicago and the Division Chief of Gastroenterology at Loyola Medicine. He sees patients at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood and at the Loyola Medicine Burr Ridge clinic, serving communities throughout Chicago’s western suburbs.
Dr. Micic earned his medical degree at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, completed residency training at the University of Michigan, and pursued advanced gastroenterology fellowships at the University of Chicago and Northwestern University. His expertise spans the full range of digestive health, with a special focus on inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, and celiac disease.
As an active clinical researcher, Dr. Micic leads trials exploring new IBD therapies and emphasizes the role of clinical nutrition and parenteral nutrition support in patient care. He helps patients understand the broad scope of gastroenterology, which includes conditions affecting the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder—such as GERD, colon cancer, peptic ulcer disease, hepatitis, irritable bowel syndrome, gallstones, and pancreatitis.
Dr. Micic is a member of national professional organizations, including the American Gastroenterological Association and the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation. As Loyola Medicine’s Chief of Gastroenterology, he oversees care teams dedicated to improving outcomes for patients with chronic GI conditions. Patients with persistent digestive symptoms, suspected celiac disease, or diagnosed IBD are encouraged to request an appointment for expert evaluation and personalized treatment.
