MAYWOOD, IL – Loyola Medicine’s Gottlieb Memorial Hospital and MacNeal Hospital have been named to Becker's Hospital Review’s 2025 list of 100 great community hospitals.
The list recognizes community hospitals that deliver expert care, strengthen local economies and drive innovation. Becker's Healthcare developed this list based on nominations and editorial research.
“We are truly honored that two of our hospitals have earned this national recognition,” said Shawn P. Vincent, president and CEO of Loyola Medicine. “This achievement is a testament to the unwavering dedication and compassion of our hospital staff, who work tirelessly to deliver exceptional care to the communities we proudly serve.”
Gottlieb Memorial Hospital was recognized for its commitment to high-quality, patient-centered care. In 2025, its hip and knee replacement program was named a “Blue Distinction Center+” by Blue Cross Blue Shield. Gottlieb’s skilled nursing facility was named one of the Best Nursing Homes in the country by U.S. News & World Report in 2024, a testament to its exceptional care quality, staffing and safety standards. With new clinical leadership, the hospital continues to advance innovation, safety and community health initiatives in the Chicagoland area.
MacNeal Hospital was recognized for more than a century of clinical excellence, innovation and community leadership. The hospital earned Magnet with distinction status in 2024, one of only 41 hospitals in the nation to receive this designation. The hospital is also a recognized “Blue Distinction Center+” for maternal medicine and collaborates with Housing Forward to operate Sojourner House, the first medical respite program in suburban Cook County. With a focus on equity and population health, the hospital continues to address social determinants of health and deliver high-quality, compassionate care.
