Bio
Dr. Melissa Briones was born and raised in the Chicago suburbs and was excited to return to the area after college to attend Loyola's Stritch School of Medicine. She then stayed at Loyola to complete her Internal Medicine Residency, Chief Residency, and Rheumatology Fellowship training. She devotes much of her time as associate program director to supporting the chief residents. She particularly enjoys curriculum development and teaching. She splits her time between her work at Loyola and her role as a Medical Director for theMednet.org, a Q&A based educational resource for physicians. Outside of work Dr. Briones loves to spend time with her husband and two daughters, cook, run, and read.

Dr. Ozark is the Associate Program Director responsible for managing the resident advising program, planning the "Friday School" academic half-day curriculum, running resident stimulation training, organizing the PGY 3 workshop, and trains residents in Point of Care Ultrasound. She also oversees board examination preparation.
Dr. Ozark has been on staff at Loyola since graduating from medical school. In addition to her role as an Associate Program Director, she is also a member of the Division of Hospital Medicine and an Educational Dean at the Stritch School of Medicine. She enjoys being a resource for woman physicians who are striving to find a balance between medicine and family.
Dr. Ozark and her husband, Greg (also faculty at Loyola), enjoy spending time with their two adult children, needy Pyrenees, and travel every chance they get!

Bio
Dr. Simpson grew up in Kansas, attended the University of Notre Dame, and then moved to Chicago for Medical School at the University of Chicago where he also completed his residency in Internal Medicine and fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Simpson joined the Loyola faculty in 1993 and became residency program director in 1996. After 29 years in that role, Dr. Simpson transitioned into the role of Associate Program Director in July of 2025 and remains involved in all aspects of our residency with focused responsibilities including assisting both our Fellowship Program Directors and Subspecialty Education Coordinators, helping coordinate our ongoing noon lecture curricula, and serving as our Preliminary Year trainee advisor. Dr. Simpson continues to enjoy working with our trainees in all aspects of Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine including in the MICU, on Pulmonary Consults, and in outpatient General Pulmonary Clinic.
Outside of work, Dr. Simpson is a passionate Notre Dame sports fan and enjoys exploring new restaurants and any outdoor activity in Chicago!

Dr. Sisbarro has been a primary care physician at Loyola since completing his residency in 1997. His primary area of focus has been outpatient care in the general medicine clinic. He is the director of the resident ambulatory clinic experience at Loyola and coordinates the outpatient curriculum. He is also serves as Director of the Clinical Competency Committee.

Dr. Dayal joined the staff at Hines VA Medical Center and the faculty at Loyola in 2006. He has been actively involved in medical education and has developed several novel programs during his tenure. He has served as Medical Clerkship Site Director since 2009. Dr. Dayal has overseen/mentored the intern Clinical Question Conference since 2008.

Dr. Gee first joined the staff at Lakeside VA Hospital affiliated with Northwestern University-McGaw Medical Center after completing his residency training. He transferred to Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital in 2007 and joined the faculty at Loyola where he is able to combine his devotion in caring for veterans with his love for teaching residents and medical students. He became Associate Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program in 2012 and is the medical director for the Resident General Medicine Clinic at Hines VA. Dr. Gee is a father of three girls. In his off time, he enjoys cooking, playing the piano, and being an avid jazz listener.

Meghan O’Halloran, M.D. is an internist and Associate Professor of Medicine at Stritch School of Medicine, an Associate Program Director for Loyola’s Internal Medicine Residency Program and Site Director for the Chief Resident Quality & Safety Program (CRQS) at Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital. She serves as a faculty physician educator for the VA’s National Center for Patient Safety’s CRQS Program. She is the recipient of VA grants for work in VA Quality Improvement initiatives. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, trying new restaurants, and nature walks with family.

Dr. Anthi Katsouli is a hospitalist and Associate Professor of Medicine at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. She provides direct patient care to inpatient general medicine services and serves in a supervisory role as a teaching attending overseeing residents. She completed her fellowship in Preventive Medicine at Cook County with her MPH at University of Illinois at Chicago which gave her the skills to identify and evaluate quantitative and qualitative data that is vital to assessing the health of a community, understand ethical principles guiding the conduct of research on human subjects and train learners to treat diverse patient populations more effectively. Aside from the main motivations of medicine and education, she has found strong passion in research that makes an impact to patients’ life. She is involved in the resident’s Academic Research Curriculum (ARC) and her goal is to motivate residents to participate in quality improvement collaborative research projects and assist them to identify and prioritize any area of improvement and use established quality improvement models to guide their work. Education is the heart of all aspects of her practice of medicine, and she deeply values her identity as an educator here at Loyola, and this continues to be one of the most fulfilling aspects of her work.

Bio
Dr. Monica Maalouf is a primary care internist and Associate Professor of Medicine at Loyola Stritch School of Medicine. She did her undergraduate training at the University of Chicago where she studied biology and anthropology. She went to medical school at the University of Minnesota and completed her residency training at New York University School of Medicine in New York City. Her medical interests include HIV care and women's health with a particular focus on marginalized communities. She has a passion for diversity and equity and also serves as Assistant Dean of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion for the Stritch School of Medicine. Outside of her clinical duties, she is proud mother to two toddlers and a rambunctious rescue dog. She is also a national board member for Physicians for a National Health Plan (PNHP) Illinois and an active member of the Illinois Single-Payer Coalition.

Bio
Dr. Pappano grew up in the northern suburbs of Illinois. She attended the University of Notre Dame and then attended Loyola’s Stritch School of Medicine, where she met her husband. She stayed at Loyola for Internal Medicine Residency and a year as Chief Resident. She joined the faculty at the Hines VA and enjoys teaching students and residents in both inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. Pappano became an Associate Program Director in 2021 and is the Hines VA Site Director for the IM residency.
As a certified coach, she has an interest in wellness and coaching. She very much enjoys planning the Annual Intern Retreat and PGY2 retreat for our residents. She is a wife and mother of three young sons. Outside of the hospital she enjoys cooking, playing outside with her sons and traveling with her family.
