How to Apply to the MacNeal Internal Medicine Residency

Thank you for your interest in our program! If you would like to apply for a residency position, please submit all required information through ERAS.

Interview Season Philosophy on Equity

Our Internal Medicine Residency Program is committed to fostering a diverse and equitable environment of excellence. We conduct application reviews blinded to photos to ensure impartiality and focus solely on the merits of each candidate's qualifications. Our interviewers undergo training to mitigate bias, ensuring fair and objective evaluations.
In alignment with national recommendations, we do not allow in-person visits of any kind during the recruitment process, including for example, observations, tours and second looks. This provides all candidates with an equal opportunity regardless of their geographic or financial circumstances. We believe these practices strengthen our program and contribute to the development of outstanding physicians.

Program Signaling

For the 2026 ERAS® recruitment season residency applicants can use program signals to show their interest. During our holistic review of applications, we review both applications of those who signaled as well as those who did not signal. Signaling a program for which an applicant is deemed qualified may increase the likelihood of obtaining an interview offer from the program. Signaling a program for which an applicant is not deemed qualified will not increase the likelihood of obtaining an interview offer. A signal does not guarantee an interview.

Equal Opportunity Employer

We are an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, status as a protected veteran, or any other status protected by federal, state or local law.
