Timothy Carrigan, PhD, RN, Named Chief Nursing Officer at Loyola Medicine and St. Joseph Health System
September 23, 2024MAYWOOD, IL – Trinity Health has announced the appointment of Timothy M. Carrigan, PhD, RN, FACHE, NEA-BC, as Regional Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) of the Illinois/Indiana Region, which includes Loyola Medicine and St. Joseph Health System, effective September 6.
Carrigan brings to his new role a blend of leadership, dedication and vision for nursing excellence. He has demonstrated his capabilities and commitment to advancing patient care and nursing practices during his tenure as CNO at Loyola University Medical Center (LUMC). Carrigan's leadership was instrumental in achieving Magnet recognition for the fourth time, an accolade that speaks volumes about his ability to foster excellence and innovation in nursing.
As part of Loyola's and St. Joseph's executive leadership teams, Carrigan will play a pivotal role in shaping clinical care across the region. He will oversee nursing practices within Trinity Health's five hospitals in Illinois and Indiana, encompassing nursing education and research, patient safety and clinical quality of nursing. His vision for enhancing nursing excellence and patient care aligns with Trinity Health's objectives to provide compassionate, high-quality care to our communities.
Carrigan's career, spanning over 23 years in clinical and nursing operations, as well as his roles in advancing nursing care and leading through innovation, have prepared him well for this role. "Tim has a proven record of success in the development of nursing leaders, enhancing physician and colleague engagement, improving clinical and operational performance and creating a culture of excellence," said Shawn Vincent, CEO and President, Trinity Health, Illinois/Indiana Region.
Carrigan will continue his role as affiliate assistant professor at the Marcella Neihoff School of Nursing and serving as the practice partner to the dean of nursing. His collaborative leadership style and dedication to fostering a culture of teamwork will ensure comprehensive and coordinated patient care.
