Administrative Fellowship Program

Welcome
The Loyola Medicine Administrative Fellowship is a one-year, full-time program that provides future health care leaders with unique management and leadership training across the system.
The program promotes learning and application of practical skills in operations, finance and frontline management to prepare fellows for rewarding leadership careers in health care. Fellows also gain exposure to in-depth, high-level strategic planning and other system functions, including human resources, marketing, information technology and revenue cycle.
The Loyola Medicine Administrative Fellowship creates opportunities for fellows to contribute to organization-wide initiatives within a nationally ranked academic health system in the greater Chicago area.

Continuing Education Opportunities
- Fellows are offered free membership to the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and the Health Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
- Fellows may obtain a variety of certifications, including: Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP), Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR), and Certified Inpatient Coding Auditor (CICA).
- The fellowship program allows fellows to attend a variety of national conferences, including the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Congress.

Overview
Loyola Medicine encompasses Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Gottlieb Memorial Hospital (community hospital) in Melrose Park, MacNeal Hospital (teaching hospital) in Berwyn and a network of ambulatory care locations across Illinois. Fellows learn the system through departmental immersions, high-level project ownership and participation in executive meetings. Fellows also receive mentorship from and report directly to:

Regional Fellowship
Administrative fellows at Loyola Medicine receive the unique opportunity to participate in system-wide leadership and growth opportunities. Fellows will collaborate with other Trinity Health fellows, attend high-level corporate events and gain valuable insight through mentorship from a secondary preceptor in the Trinity System Office.
Additional opportunities past fellows have experienced include the CFO Finance Council, Ministry Leadership Council, Clinical Summit, Board of Directors Meetings, as well as funding for optional conferences.

2025-26 Fellows
Casey Jenkins, MHA
Casey Jenkins is a 2025–2026 Administrative Fellow at Loyola Medicine. She received her Master of Health Administration (MHA) from The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) in 2019 and her Bachelor of Science (BS) in Food Science from Clemson University in 2017.
Before her fellowship, she held multiple roles in the Division of Hematology Oncology at MUSC, including fiscal analyst, post-award grant administrator, and program manager for the Hematology Oncology Clinical Fellowship. In these capacities, she managed the division’s finances and grants, oversaw personnel funding for more than 60 employees, and coordinated the training of 12 clinical fellows.
Her previous experiences include administrative internships at prestigious institutions such as Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center, Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center, where she led impactful projects in patient experience, financial auditing, clinical operations, and quality improvement.
In her free time, Casey enjoys working out, reading, traveling, and spending time with her dog, family, and friends.
Idiake Irumundomon, MPH
Idiake Irumundomon is a 2025–2026 Administrative Fellow at Loyola Medicine. He earned his Master of Public Health with a concentration in Health Policy and Management from the Parkinson School of Health Sciences and Public Health at Loyola University Chicago in 2024. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Health from Loyola, graduating in 2023.
While pursuing his graduate degree, Idiake served as the Lead Graduate Fellow for Loyola Stands Against Gun Violence, a non-profit initiative founded by Loyola Medicine staff. In this role, he was responsible for onboarding and managing a team of four fellows, facilitating executive committee communications, and coordinating major community events. Simultaneously, he worked as a Health Promotion Intern at Loyola’s Wellness Center, where he organized campus-wide initiatives and public service announcements to promote student wellness.
Outside of his professional interests, Idiake enjoys discovering new restaurants, leading group fitness classes, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Shawn P. Vincent, President and CEO, Loyola Medicine
Shawn P. Vincent is the president and chief executive officer of Loyola Medicine. Mr. Vincent joined Loyola in November of 2018 from Augusta University Health, where he served as chief operating officer.

Secondary Preceptors
Loyola Medicine Administrative Fellows will have a Trinity Health leader as a secondary preceptor. These secondary preceptors are located at System Office in Livonia, Michigan.
The secondary preceptor identifies opportunities within Trinity Health that have the potential to enhance the fellow’s learning and development. This relationship serves as a resource at the system level to help the fellow navigate through Trinity Health.
Past Projects
- Streamlined COVID-19 data collection process across the region to deliver real-time, actionable data to executive leadership.
- Developed comprehensive dashboard to track regional COVID-19 statistics: used to forecast spikes in confirmed cases, monitor PPE and ventilator utilization and assess inpatient unit capacity.
- Staffed the COVID-19 Incident Command Center (ICC) responsible for COVID patient tracing, evaluating capacity limitations and operationalizing new policies and procedures.
- Managed multidisciplinary team to implement improved detection process for difficult airway patients.
- Used Lean principles to present decreased front-desk staffing model to reduce nursing overtime.
- Assisted in the development of an ambulatory care model to minimize variation in patient experience and reduce variability in care models.
- Managed creation of physician acquisition process to acquire ambulatory practices.
- Developed effective communication and change management tool for managers and staff members.
- Led operational teams in transitioning an acquired physician practice to an ambulatory network site, coordinated training and on-boarding of new staff, and assessment of supply need.
- Front-end revenue cycle improvement to increase efficiency and utilization of the sleep lab.
- Projected trends to create operating budget for Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Laboratory.
- Developed a financial business case and conducted a pilot for a dedicated Rapid Response Team.
- Led project for five bundle programs at MacNeal Hospital to improve financial risk, improve population health management and comprehensive care coordination.
- Conducted mixed-method analysis of patient experience metrics and drivers throughout all inpatient units and partnered with the chief nurse executive's team to implement focused tactics.
- Implemented framework of patient experience initiatives to increase baseline scores and improve safety huddle.
- Managed a multidisciplinary team and partnered with community stakeholders to create a respite program that provides short-term housing to vulnerable homeless patients.
- Co-led initiative to provide free preventive health screenings for uninsured women.
- Event creation and management to provide free preventive health screenings for uninsured women in the community.

No, the preceptor team conducts a comprehensive assessment to determine preceptor-fellow compatibility.
The Administrative Fellowship salary is competitive with other programs and in the Chicago market. A full benefits package is also available to Fellows and their dependents. Additionally, relocation expenses and a stipend to be applied towards educational activities (conferences, certificates, subscriptions, etc.) is also awarded.
No, we do not sponsor work visas for Administrative Fellows.
Yes, Chicago is a uniquely robust health care network containing a number of fellowship programs. Chicago-area fellows interact informally with each other through networking events and social outings throughout the year.
Yes, as long as all other degree requirements are met, students of graduate programs requiring an administrative fellowship as a condition for graduation are welcome to apply.
Fellows are surrounded by a passionate team excited about supporting current and former fellows. Fellows receive ample support from their preceptor team, executive and senior leaders and fellow alumni who provide guidance and support regarding personal and professional development.
To ensure a safe environment for everyone involved, all interviews for the 2022 – 2023 Administrative Fellowship cohort will be conducted virtually. More specific details will be updated on this webpage as they become available.
Although fellows are hired with retention as a priority, no formal obligation exists for either party to offer or accept a position upon completion of the fellowship.

Application Process
The application period for the Administrative Fellowship cycle is open from June 6—September 26, 2025. The following information should be submitted through the NAFCAS website (National Administrative Fellowship Centralized Application Service) by Friday, September 26, 2025 under the Trinity Health Fellowship Portal.
Please note, applicants are required to apply through Trinity Health's NAFCAS portal, where you will be prompted to identify other Trinity Health fellowship locations that interest you. Applicants only interested in Loyola Medicine should designate this in the desired geographic location dropdown menu as well as tailor their application materials to reflect this interest.
Requirements for consideration:
- Applicants should possess a master's degree or expect to obtain one before the fellowship begins mid-June 2026. Applications from students enrolled in master's programs that necessitate a fellowship to fulfill degree requisites are also accepted

- September 5 – 26, 2025: Phone interviews will be conducted to screen applicants with verified submissions

- October 9-31, 2025: Offer period
- Those whose applications are complete by mid-September will have the advantage of being considered for an interview prior to the end of the application cycle.
The Loyola Medicine Administrative Fellowship program participates in the National Council on Administrative Fellowships (NCAF) and adheres to their guidelines. As such, Loyola Medicine complies with the uniform acceptance date on Friday, October 31, 2025, after which no offers will be made.
