Loyola Medicine’s pediatric cardiology team collaborates to treat baby’s heart abnormality

Jean Goodman, MD, a Loyola maternal/fetal medicine specialist detected a heart abnormality in Sherry Apollo’s baby, Massimo, 3 months before his delivery date.  Loyola pediatric cardiologists Sarah Perkins, MD, and Frank Zimmerman, MD, diagnosed Massimo in utero with supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), a serious heart condition that can be fatal if left untreated.  The Loyola team worked together, caring for Sherry and Massimo throughout the rest of her pregnancy and during her delivery and stay in Loyola’s neonatal unit.  Drs. Perkins and Zimmerman continue to see Massimo in clinic to monitor his heart condition.  For more information or to make an appointment, please visit ‪ or call 888-584-7888.
