MAYWOOD, Ill. - Loyola University Medical Center health experts will team up with Margaret Stender, president/CEO of the Chicago Sky of the Women's National Basketball Association; and state Sen. Kimberly A. Lightford, D-Maywood, at the Loyola Center for Health & Fitness for a special Womenâs Day event on Saturday, Oct. 20.
To help give women a break from their daily routines, Loyola physicians and the staff of the Loyola Center for Health & Fitness will present an educational day of health and wellness. Professionals from a variety of disciplines â including massage therapists, dietitians, personal trainers and experts in smoking-cessation, Pilates and spirituality and wellness â will offer tips and advice for better health.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the state-of-the-art fitness center, 2160 S. First Ave., Maywood. Parking is free.
Stender is a mother of two who has built a professional basketball team around talented athletes who exemplify womenâs empowerment and self-esteem on the court and in the community. She possesses 21 years of extensive leadership in business development, operations, management and marketing for high-profile brands and businesses. She will speak at 11 a.m.
Other speakers scheduled include: Dr. Sondra Summers, on Innovations in Womenâs Health â Vaccinations against Cervical Cancer; Dr. Jose Biller, on Advancement in Stroke; Dr. Linda Brubaker, on Incontinence â Replacing Secrets with Solutions âFemale Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery; and Dr. Mary Jo Liszek, on Are Killer Cramps Normal?
