For the second year, the 5K took place at Brookfield Zoo.
Tess Ehrhardt, of Chicago, was the top overall finisher at 0:18.39. Roger Pinon, of Chicago, was the top male finisher at 0:18.41.
Both were members of Team Owen, one of the event's top fundraising groups. Team Owen participated for a fifth consecutive year in recognition of the care Owen Wills received from Loyola following an accident with a riding lawnmower when he was three years old.
Team Owen raised more than $26,000. Walsh Construction was the top sponsor with a gift of more than $25,000.
The Loyola Medicine 5K has raised more than $725,000 to benefit pediatric programs at Loyola, including a 98-bed, full-service children's hospital. The hospital-within-a-hospital consists of:
- A 50-bed Level III neonatal intensive care unit
- A 14-bed pediatric intensive care unit designed with the latest technology and family amenities
- 34 general pediatric beds
- A monitored unit for infants and toddlers
