Labor Day is Labor of Love for First-Time Mother

Much-Anticipated First Child Welcomed on Labor Day

WHAT: Monica Prado Aguirre, 38, was happily in labor with her first child on Labor Day at Loyola University Medical Center, while others were enjoying the final days of summer and relaxing with loved ones on the holiday. “My husband, Michael, and I have longed for a baby for many years and when I went into labor late last night, I cried with absolute joy that we would meet our baby at last, and appropriately, on Labor Day,” said the 38-year-old Chicagoan. “Frankie is a true labor of love, as we have been hoping for a healthy baby for several years.”
Franco “Frankie” Michael Aguirre arrived on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5, at 7:37 p.m. weighing in at 8 pounds, 14 ounces and delivered by Dr. Scott Graziano, obstetrician, at Loyola University Medical Center.
“Dr. Graziano kept teasing me that Labor Day was really the celebratory day for obstetricians and he always wanted to deliver a baby on this day,” said Aguirre, who spent more than 24 hours in labor with baby Frankie. “My due date was August 31, but Frankie chose his own birthday and he was well worth the extra wait.”
WHEN: On Labor Day, Monica and her husband, Michael Aguirre, surrounded by a dozen relatives and loved ones, welcomed their first-born, Franco “Frankie” Michael Aguirre, after a labor time of more than 24 hours.
