College of American Pathologists Reaccredits Loyola Pathology Laboratory

MAYWOOD, Ill. -- Loyola University Medical Center's pathology laboratory has been reaccredited by the American College of Pathologists for another two-year period.

The federal government recognizes the college's Laboratory Accreditation Program as equal to or more stringent than the government's own inspection program. Inspectors look at the lab's records, quality control and procedures for the preceding two years. Inspectors also examine management, staff qualifications, equipment and facilities, safety program and record. Loyola's laboratory offers a complete range of technologies and services in anatomic, clinical and molecular pathology, using state-of-the-art technologies. Pathologists and clinical laboratory scientists consult on diagnoses and test results for hospital patients and outpatients throughout Loyola University Health System. The laboratory also provides specialized services, such as cytogenetics, dermatopathology, flow cytometry and ophthalmic pathology to physicians throughout the Chicago area.
