MAYWOOD, Ill. – (April 28, 2015) - Kidney specialist Benjamin Ling, DO, has joined Loyola University Health System.
Dr. Ling is an assistant professor in the Division of Nephrology of Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. Dr. Ling has a joint appointment with Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital, where he is an assistant professor in the Division of Nephrology.
Dr. Ling said kidney disease is related to risk factors associated with an aging population, along with the obesity epidemic. Obesity and age both increase the risk of high blood pressure and diabetes, which in turn are major risk factors for kidney disease. Lifestyle factors such as maintaining normal weight, eating a healthful diet and getting regular exercise can prevent or at least delay the onset of kidney disease.
Dr. Ling earned his medical degree from Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed a residency in internal medicine and psychiatry and a fellowship in nephrology at Rush University Medical Center.
Dr. Ling is board certified in nephrology and internal medicine.
