Hospital workers, community members donate blood
While last-minute shoppers are storming the malls and other folks are settling in for a festive holiday celebration, hospital workers and community members are rolling up their sleeves to donate the one gift that has no substitute: human blood.
The public is welcome to take part in the Christmas Eve blood drive sponsored by Gottlieb Memorial Hospital and the American Red Cross. The drive is expected to help give many the gift of life this holiday season.
When: 7 am – noon, Wednesday, December 24, 2014.
Where: Gottlieb Memorial Hospital, 701 W. North Ave., Melrose Park
The gift of life is the irreplaceable gift this season as no synthetic substitute exists for human blood.
Nationwide, someone needs a unit of blood every two to three seconds.
One pint can save up to three lives.
