Katherine started working in the medical field in high school as a certified nursing assistant (CNA). She attended undergraduate nursing school at Loyola University Chicago and worked at Evanston Hospital as a CNA throughout her schooling. In 2007, she started an internship at Loyola University Medical Center and fell in love with the institution. She knew that working in an academic medical center would be the perfect fit and couldn’t imagine working anywhere else. Katherine worked as an RN on a surgical trauma floor at LUMC for five years while she attended graduate school. After graduating in 2012, she transitioned into a position as an Advanced Practice Nurse at LUMC. She is also part-time clinical faculty for Loyola University Chicago’s undergraduate school of nursing.
Taking care of post-surgical patients is Katherine's passion. She is able to develop a strong bond with her patients when she sees them for their pre-op appointment prior to surgery, she assists with their surgery in the operating room and she sees them for their post-op appointments after surgery. Assisting patients through their recovery and seeing their quality of life improve makes her job very rewarding.
