Loyola Medicine Welcomes MacNeal Hospital
On behalf of Loyola Medicine and the entire leadership team, we are excited to welcome MacNeal Hospital employees and its affiliated operations to Loyola Medicine and Trinity Health.
Combining Our Identities and Core Values
MacNeal Hospital will keep its name within the Loyola Medicine brand. Current healthcare services, physicians and locations of MacNeal and its affiliated operations will remain the same for patients, including accepted insurances. By becoming part of Loyola Medicine, MacNeal is joining one of the top three hospital systems in Illinois. “Our reputation for value-based care and Loyola’s reputation for academic medicine will bolster MacNeal’s community hospital reputation and provide valuable resources to strengthen our patient care offerings to the community,” said M.E. Cleary, president of MacNeal Hospital.
As part of Loyola Medicine, MacNeal also joins Trinity Health, one of the country’s largest Catholic health systems, becoming a Catholic hospital (a designation made by the Archdiocese of Chicago). We plan to celebrate this transition for MacNeal in a ceremony on June 29, 2018, that will acknowledge the hospital’s rich history serving all those in need.
Over the coming year, MacNeal employees will be invited to orientation sessions to learn about Loyola Medicine values and culture. Our Catholic identity supports and celebrates MacNeal’s ongoing commitment to patient care and the community, caring for the underserved in a spirit that honors the dignity of the human lives.
“We look forward to serving a greater number of patients in an expanded delivery network, thanks to the resources, additional providers and exceptional care made possible by the acquisition of MacNeal,” said Larry M. Goldberg, president and CEO of Loyola Medicine and Trinity Health's Illinois region. “Our shared core beliefs will ensure that we are a transforming and healing presence in our communities, treating every patient in body + soul.”
MacNeal Hospital, located in Berwyn, Illinois, is a 374-bed teaching hospital with over 550 medical staff members in 50 specialties, advanced inpatient and outpatient medical, surgical and psychiatric services, innovative diagnostics and treatments in a convenient community setting at eight locations.
