Maywood Pumpkin Patch Picnic and Parade Bolstered by Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine Students
Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine (SSOM) students are leaving the books behind to fall into the new season with the Maywood community. Helping with the annual Maywood Fine Arts Association (MFAA) Pumpkin Patch Picnic and Parade Walk for the Arts is just one more way SSOM students are impacting lives while raising funds for a neighborhood organization.
“We want to find ways to give back to our amazing community and this is a great opportunity for our students to see another kind of organization making a difference,” said Virginia McCarthy, chaplain SSOM Ministry Center for Service and Global Health. “The kids love the one-on-one attention and it’s so encouraging to see our students making these personal connections.”
The parade will highlight the talents of MFAA participants followed by a picnic for families and kids taking part in the walk. SSOM students will contribute in a variety of ways from blocking off streets for the parade route to helping with a jump rope competition to playing tag in a corn maze.
The kick-off rally will start at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 10 followed by the parade at 11:00 a.m.
