Suarez-Ponce explains LUHS flu shot policy for employees
Sylvia Suarez-Ponce, an infection control specialist, talks about how Loyola University Health System requires all employees and students get a flu shot.
The last thing that patients here need is to be exposed to the flu when they are recovering from various ailments, she says. When the flu strikes, the hospital also takes additional measures to protect patients.
Loyola this year is providing the trivalent flu shot, which protect against three strains of the flu. Infection control specialists watch the trends in other regions to predict which ones are most likely to hit North America during our flu season.
