Mom with autoimmune disorder delivers happy, healthy baby Luke
A patient came into Gottlieb Memorial Hospital for prenatal care during her pregnancy. She had rheumatoid arthritis, a sign that she might be prone to other autoimmune diseases. The mother took a test that determined the baby might be at risk for congenital heart disease.
Dr. Sarah Wagner, a Gottlieb obstetrician, coordinated care with Dr. Joel Hardin, a pediatric cardiologist at Loyola University Health System, to monitor the health of both the mother and the baby. Baby Luke was delivered via Caesarean section and is now happy and healthy.
