Loyola holding Health, Hope & Heroes 5K for kids like Abbey
Abbey is one of Loyola's Heroes. At 4 years old, she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (AML), a cancer of the blood and bone marrow. "It was probably the worst news I've ever gotten," her father said.
Abbey's parents brought her to Loyola, where the family found a group of compassionate, supportive doctors and nurses who cared for them during a difficult time. After four rounds of chemotherapy, including multiple month-long hospital stays, Abbey is cancer-free, thanks to the care she received at Loyola.
It is for children like Abbey that Loyola holds its annual Health, Hope & Heroes 5K Run/Walk. For more information, please visit loyolamedicine5k.org
