Joanna Rudnick’s Emmy-nominated documentary “In the Family” is a personal story about coming to terms with having a “breast cancer gene” mutation. A patient advocate-filmmaker, Rudnick screened “In the Family” on Capitol Hill as part of an effort to successfully pass the Genetic Information Non-Discrimination Act. Her work also was leveraged by the ACLU and defendants in a Supreme Court case that resulted in invalidating BRCA gene patents.
