Eligibility

Patients must be 18 years or older. The patient must have stage 0, I or II breast cancer. If stage II, the tumor size must be 3 cm or less. The tumor must be ductal carinoma insitu or invasive adenocarcinoma of the breast. Surgical treatment of the breast must have been a lumpectomy. Patients with invasive breast cancer are required to have axillary staging.

Purpose

The purpose of this study is to see if partial breast irradiation is as good as or better than whole breast irradiation in keeping cancer from coming back in the breast.
