This program will review neonatal risk factors for hypoglycemia, with a focus on the infant of a diabetic mother (IDM). An overview of the etiology and therapeutic approaches for neonatal hypoglycemia will be presented, including adverse neonatal outcomes that may occur if hypoglycemia is not identified in a timely manner and treated correctly. We will also explore other potential adverse fetal and newborn effects of maternal diabetes, not limited to hypoglycemia.
