Loyola University Health System is seen as a national leader in trauma and emergency services. The trauma, surgical critical care and burns practice offers comprehensive services for patients with critical illness or injury. Pediatric critical care physicians provide specialized care to critically ill infants and children.
Our burn center, the largest such facility in Illinois, treats 700 patients annually, 40 percent of whom are children. All of our care is backed by advanced research – including studies that we do on site in partnership with the Burn and Shock Trauma Institute. Burn wounds are complex and often require an advanced approach to care. Our treatments at the Burn Center directly draw upon the latest scientific knowledge in wound-healing, post-burn immunosuppression, burn-induced coagulation disorders, nutritional support and early rehabilitation after burn injury.
