Loyola's Pediatric Surgery Division Gains Skilled Surgeon and Researcher

MAYWOOD, Ill. -- Skilled surgeon and researcher Heather Paddock, MD, has joined Loyola University Health System’s pediatric surgery division and is an instructor in the departments of pediatrics and surgery at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine.

Paddock is specially trained in providing surgical care to pediatric patients. Her other medical interests include congenital abnormalities, gastroesophageal reflux, congenital diaphragmatic hernia, pediatric trauma and burns, and minimally invasive surgery.

In addition to her surgical skills, Paddock brings her experience in research and passion for education to benefit her patients at Loyola. She has been widely published with articles and abstracts in professional journals as well as authoring book chapters.

“Pediatric surgeons deal with a wide range of patients. I really enjoy working with families. Due to their child’s illness, many of these families are in crisis. I want to come alongside them to help them through these difficult times,” Paddock said.

Paddock earned her medical degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, N.C. Her residency in general surgery and research fellowship were completed at University of Florida Health Sciences Center in Jacksonville. She then completed surgical critical care and pediatric surgery research fellowships at Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, followed by a pediatric surgery fellowship at University of Florida in Gainesville.
