Gastroenterology

Loyola University Health System’s (Loyola) pediatric gastroenterologists provide comprehensive consultation to physicians and diagnostic services for children with gastrointestinal (GI), hepatic and pancreatic diseases. Disorders treated include chronic hepatitis, chronic vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, Crohn’s disease, failure to thrive and/or inability to gain weight, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), liver or pancreatic disease, poor nutrition and ulcerative colitis. State-of-the-art diagnostic procedures include upper and lower GI evaluations and visual examination of the GI tract. Other diagnostics include upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, percutaneous liver biopsy, intestinal biopsy, esophageal and rectal manometry, pH probe, string test and hydrogen breath (H2) test.
