All of our nurses can advance up the Clinical Ladder, designed to recognize professional development for nurses who prefer to remain in direct patient care.
At Loyola we offer a variety of CE offerings for registered nurses and professional staff. These programs are open to nurses and student nurses from surrounding institutions. All day and half day continuing education programs are developed to meet the needs of each service line and their patient population. These programs are held monthly during the fall/winter/spring, usually on a Saturday.
Specific to Loyola patient care issues, a one-hour CE series, "Lunch and Learn", is offered during the week and provides education on topics that nurses encounter with all populations of patients. Multi-disciplinary and nursing speakers address issues related to evidence based care.
As part of our commitment to help our nurses further their careers through education, funds are now available to Loyola nurses for reimbursement of certification, recertification, conference and speaker expenses.
Loyola's Marcella Niehoff School of Nursing is closely aligned with Loyola University Health System (LUHS). The dean's office and graduate school are located on the LUHS medical center campus in Maywood, facilitating opportunities for learning, teaching and joint research projects.
Loyola has long been committed to the quality of patient care and patient safety. We prioritize and coordinate performance improvement activities across the entire institution through our Center for Clinical Effectiveness.
