A Guiding Hand

Guiding Hand

Sharon Varnas, physical therapist in Gottlieb's Outpatient Rehabilitation, has helped many patients such as Virginia Craig recover from surgery and improve their balance and mobility.

Varnas has been teaching people to walk for 15 years. As a physical therapist with Gottlieb's Outpatient Rehabilitation program, Sharon works with adults who are building strength and movement following a surgery, illness or injury.

"Gottlieb works one-on-one with our patients, from the first step of assessing their condition to the exercises that are part of their therapy," she said. "We develop a strong bond with our patients and a commitment to helping them get better."

Sharon worked with Andrew Tranchita for eight weeks while he was recovering from minimally invasive knee replacement surgery. "I love helping energetic people like Andy get back to their active lifestyles," she said.

Andrew credits Outpatient Rehabilitation with his thorough recovery.  "I trusted Gottlieb to get me back in shape," said the man who regularly climbs extension ladders and measures roofs for a living. "Sharon partnered with me and tailored a program that fit my needs."

In addition to strengthening and conditioning equipment in the bright and sunny, ground-level facility, therapists also work with patients at the two indoor pools and cushioned track at the Gottlieb Center for Fitness.
