Psychiatry and Behavioral Neuroscience Services

The department provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment for adults, adolescents and children with psychiatric and psychological conditions. Treatment strategies are designed to be comprehensive, biopsychosocial and multidisciplinary to meet the specific needs of each patient. Psychiatrists evaluate medically ill patients and provide 24-hour emergency consultation at Loyola University Hospital as well as outpatient medication and psychotherapy for psychiatric disorders.

The department’s psychologists provide outpatient counseling for children and adults, inpatient consultations and evaluation of patients for organ transplantation. The psychologists are especially skilled in therapy for patients adjusting to illness or chronic pain. Specialists in neuropsychology help diagnose and design treatment plans for illnesses and injuries that affect thinking and behavior.
