Loyola University Health System Statement
H1N1 Influenza A (Swine Flu) at Loyola May 1, 2009

Loyola University Health System has been on alert for suspected cases of H1N1 Influenza A (Swine Flu) and earlier this week distributed guidelines to all Loyola physicians.

To date, we have one probable case of H1N1 Flu, which was reported to the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH). The patient, who had recently returned from a trip to Mexico, was seen at one of Loyola's neighborhood facilities. By the time the patient sought care, the flu symptoms were resolving. A full recovery is expected.

The much-publicized case of a Loyola student involved a student from Loyola University Chicago. This student was on LUC’s Lakeshore Campus. This student was never at any of the LUHS facilities and LUHS personnel did not treat this student.

The health and safety of our staff and patients is a top priority for our health system. We have provided answers to frequently asked questions about the H1N1 Flu.
