Loyola has received numerous awards and accolades for our achievements:
- We received the Magnet designation for excellence in nursing.
- U.S.News & World Report placed us in the top 1 percent of hospitals nationwide in four categories: heart and heart surgery; ear, nose and throat; neurology and neurosurgery; and urology.
- We received HealthGrades Distinguished Hospitals Award -- given to only the top 5 percent of hospitals.
- We had a place in the Top 100 Most Wired Hospitals and Health Systems for the eighth year.
- Blue Cross and Blue Shield recognized Loyola with nine out of nine blue stars for excellence in primary care.
- Thomson Reuters named Loyola among its Top 100 hospitals for cardiovascular care. Loyola is the only academic medical center in the Chicago area to have made this list five times.
- CMS Hospital Compare placed Loyola in the top 5 percent for survival following a heart attack and in the top 5 percent for survival with heart failure.
- American Heart Association gave Loyola awards for excellence in heart disease care as well as in stroke care.
- At the Stritch School of Medicine we have seen a steep climb in Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) scores among our incoming Stritch students, with an average score that is higher than 32.
