Title:
Randomized Placebo-controlled Trial of Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC) for the Prevention of Taxane-induced Neuropathy, Phase III
Purpose:
To assess if Acetyl-L-Carnitine (ALC) as compared to a placebo prevents symptoms of taxane-related neuropathy as measured by an 11-item neurotoxicity component of the FACT-Taxane at 12 weeks after registration in patients treated with adjuvant taxanes for breast cancer.

Elgibility:
Women with breast cancer that will receive one of the standard taxane-based systemic adjuvant chemotherapy regimens, who have not had previous biologic therapy.
Treatment:
Participants will take two pills of either the study drug or placebo three times a day for 24 weeks.
