Vitamin for Metabolic Control and Depressive Symptoms in Women with Diabetes
The purpose of this study is to determine whether taking vitamin D supplementation will help with metabolic control (fasting blood sugar, insulin resistance, HBA1c) and depressive symptoms.

Inclusion criteria: 1) Women age 18 to 70 years, 2) Having medically stable type 2 diabetes which includes (a) diabetes longer than six months but not more than 10 years, (b) being medically managed with oral diabetes medications (not insulin therapy) and/or diet, (c) metabolic control with HBA1c > 6.0% and <8.5%, 3) Having depressive symptoms, 4) Not having other major illness such as cancer, liver disease, etc. since this impacts quality of life.
Participants will take one vitamin D capsule per week for a period of 26 weeks and will have lab work done three times, during which time a questionnaire will be completed.
