Title:
Chemoprevention Trial of Selenium Supplementation in Persons with Resected Stage I Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (E5597 Phase III)
Purpose:
The purpose of this study is to find out if a high selenium yeast tablet can prevent lung cancers in participants following surgical removal of a Stage I Non Small Cell Lung Cancer

Elgibility:
The participant must have undergone complete resection (within 6 to 36 months prior to enrollment in this trial) of a histologically proven Stage I Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer with sampling of at least one mediastinal lymph node. Potential participants must be disease free, at least 18 years old, and able to routinely take a daily oral tablet.
Treatment:
You will be randomized (selected by chance by a computer) into one of two study groups. One group will receive a daily selenium yeast tablet for a maximum of 4 years. The other group will receive a daily tablet that looks identical to the tablet but does not contain selenium.
