Title:

A Phase III Randomized Trial of Adjuvant Chemotherapy With or Without Bevacizumab for Patients With Completely Resected Stage IB (> 4 cm) -IIIA Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC)

Purpose:

This research is being done because even with the most aggressive after-surgery treatment with chemotherapy, many people still have the lung cancer recur. The purpose of this study is to determine if adding bevacizumab to chemotherapy improves the chance for cure for participants who have had complete surgical resection of their Stage IB-IIIA NSCLC.Bevacizumab is considered investigational drug in this study.

Study Number:

200560

Number of Patients:

1500

Elgibility:

The participant must have undergone complete surgical resection (within 6 to 12 weeks prior to enrollment in this trial) of Stage IB-IIIA NSCLC with sampling of at least one mediastinal lymph node. Participant must not have received any prior systemic chemotherapy, be at least 18 years old, and be ambulatory and able to carry out light or sedentary work.

Treatment:

Initially you and your study doctor will choose from one of three chemotherapy regimens for this study. You will then be randomized (chosen by computer to be on Arm A or Arm B). If you are selected for Arm A, you will receive just your chosen chemotherapy regimen. If you are selected for Arm B, you will receive your chosen chemotherapy regimen but bevacizumab will also be given. You or your study doctor will not be able to choose, and will not know if you are on Arm A or Arm B.
