Enhancing Patient Care

Our patients are at the center of all we do. Combining compassion for human life, commitment to clinical excellence and investment in the latest technology serves the medical, social and spiritual needs of our patients. Loyola offers state-of-the-art treatment and leading-edge procedures not available elsewhere in the community. Loyola's partners help nurture programs with the potential to truly transform the communities we serve and the patients we treat.

  • Patient-centered Care: Loyola continues to build programs that put the patient first, setting the standard for personal care.
  • Community Outreach: Loyola's community outreach programs ensure that the Loyola philosophy of care is able to play a vital role in improving the lives and futures of our friends and neighbors.
  • System Expansion: Loyola is committed to creating facilities that serve the community, bringing academic-level care to convenient locations.

Caring for the Smallest Infants

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, part of the Ronald McDonald® Children's Hospital of Loyola University Medical Center, cared for the two smallest surviving infants in the world. It also has one of the highest survival rates for low-birth-weight infants. This world-class NICU is in urgent need of renovation to meet the ongoing requirements and expectations of patients and families.

Preparing the Next Generation

Loyola University Chicago is educating the health-care leaders of tomorrow, transforming both how health sciences are taught and how they are learned. Investing in facilities, faculty training and student support makes possible greater integration between the health sciences schools and programs.

  • Student Scholarships: Endowing four-year or annual scholarships provides a reliable, long-term resource that helps recruit the most gifted students, regardless of financial background.
  • School of Nursing Building and Center for Collaborative Learning: Constructing a new nursing education facility will integrate the school of nursing undergraduate program into the health sciences campus, transforming the way students learn in an environment that mirrors the health-care setting. In addition, expanding our use of high-tech patient simulator models allows students to practice real-life clinical skills in a controlled learning environment.

Discovering New Breakthroughs

LUHS scientists and clinicians bring new hope and healing to patients locally and around the world. New partners will help LUHS become an internationally recognized research institution - one whose discoveries will shape the future of medicine. Investing in research infrastructure and those who conduct research provides an incredible opportunity to create a place where medical discoveries can be put into the hands of caregivers, and into the lives of patients, more quickly than ever before thought possible.
